We started as a small hobby embroidery called "Fun 2 Stitch" in Tsitsikamma in 2014, How things have changed.
As a small company in a small farming community there were not much space for growth. Marketing was difficult and expensive due to the distances we had to travel on bumpy gravel roads just to get on paved roads. We did what was possible to do and tried our best to do the embroidery on farm worker uniforms and guesthouse uniforms. We tried to go to a small business expo but was unsuccessful in getting any work due to it flooding the day of the expo. Tried the same expo a month later and we had a total of 4 people showing up. I have been doing Digitizing and getting used to the software working through file after file just to try and be as knowledgeable as my aunt. I have had many trials and errors over the last few years. But if you don’t learn from your mistakes then you are not paying attention or willing to learn.
We met a person in the branding industry in 2019 and we partnered up with him to get better business. He then said the “Fun-2” part of my company name was not corporate enough for the amount of corporate work we will do. we also made a deal between the embroidery company and his branding company that all embroidery was to be done by us but at a cheaper rate. due to those agreements there was many disputes on stock purchasing and usage between the two companies for we have moved into the same building as his branding business. We decided after 7 Months to rather devolve the partnership and we went our separate ways.
I moved the company to the current location and has been self sufficient since then. We had quite a few hardships and financial crisis’s since 2020 with the pandemic. The current Landlord was so kind he did not charge rent for the first 3 months of the lock-down period . He also helped by giving me more time to pay the rent and charging me half of it the first two months after we opened again. Due to support of My friends and family i have made it this far.
